3rd Place in Northfleet carnival

We have come 3rd place in this years Northfleet carnival thanks to the leading effort of Mrs Tadhunter. 

Over the last few weeks when coming to drop off or collect your young person you may have seen the small cottage industry hard at work in Explorer room. This was the vision of Mrs Tadhunter coming to life with the help of parents, young people and leaders. The idea was first presented to the group of taking part in this years carnival (the first time in 12 years) a few months back and was happily accepted. Preparation work took place at the building and also at homes cutting out the bunting to making a climbing wall.

Eventually the day of the carnival arrived and all that hard work came together. A climbing wall, a (pretend) campfire some Kayaks and a bit of camping adorned the float. Who knew you could do all this on the back of a lorry!!! The sun had got his hat on with the continuing heat wave which meant a hot walk. None the less the people of Gravesham turned out in force to see the floats make their way towards the canal basin. Turning into Gravesend high street there was a sea of people waiting to fill up the rest of our donation tins (one already full). Out the other side of town and time to take it all down. Just in time to hear England score their first goal to the sound of lorry horns.

So well done to all who took part and a big thanks to Mrs Tadhunter for organising it  all. We understand that Mrs Tadhunter has volunteered to organise our float in carnival 2019. Lets aim for 1st place!!!!!
